Many patients prefer the Invisalign cosmetic service because they can easily change the alignment of their teeth without the need of traditional braces. Invisalign is a clear tray system that moves teeth to a desired position without the use of metal in the mouth. The less movement needed to get teeth to their ideal spot, the less time needed for Invisalign.
An additional advantage of Invisalign is the ease at which the patient can clean their teeth. It is easy to brush and floss teeth rather than trying to maneuver around traditional metal braces.
One important factor to Invisalign braces is that they are to be worn 22 out of 24 hours a day in order to move teeth at the maximum rate. The trays should only be taken out when eating and replaced immediately after teeth are brushed and flossed. Oral hygiene is of utmost importance with Invisalign so as to prevent cavities.

Typically, a patient will be given two sets trays at each check up appointment. The first set of trays will worn right away, and the other set of trays will be worn in 2 weeks. After 1 month, the patient will return for the next 2 sets of trays.
Patients in Invisalign must come in once a month to get their new sets of trays. During this 15-minute appointment, the dentist provides a personalized evaluation to ensure the teeth are moving correctly and treatment is on track.
During the first appointment, the patient’s teeth are evaluated and intraoral pictures are taken. Impressions of the upper and lower teeth are completed and sent to Invisalign. During the second appointment, the patient will go over the overall plan and timeline for treatment. At the third appointment, the patient gets attachments placed on their teeth and begins the Invisalign treatment. This process can take 2-3 weeks.
